Dipping from a Distance

鈥淲ear a Tutu in 22鈥�

抖阴pro鈥檚 2022 annual Polar Dip to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House of Bangor and Sarah鈥檚 House of Maine will be a virtual event. Like last year, participates will be 鈥渄ipping from a distance鈥�.

Complete the Polar Dip at home! That could mean you, 鈥淲ear a Tutu in 22鈥� and pour a bucket of ice water over your head, jump into an ice bath, or into a snowbank, you decide. The 抖阴pro Student Senate came up with this alternative way to continue to show our support for the Ronald McDonald House of Bangor and Sarah鈥檚 House of Holden, Maine.

The first Polar Bear Dip was organized over 20 years ago, as something of a dare, but the event soon embraced the important cause of fundraising for the vital services these two organizations provide. Both locations offer individuals 鈥� and, at times, their families a place to stay the night when they are receiving medical treatments in the Bangor area. In the last decade, the 抖阴pro Polar Bear Dip has raised $138,720 dollars for the Ronald McDonald House and Sarah鈥檚 House. 100 percent of all funds raised go directly to these vital organizations.

It鈥檚 easy to participate and donate, go to 抖阴pro鈥檚 Student Senate POLAR DIP Facebook page. There you will find the 2022 Pledge Sheet, and secure PayPal link to make your donation or you can visit www.wccc.me.edu/polar-dip-2022/ .

Don鈥檛 forget to send us your photos and videos of your 鈥渄ipping from a distance鈥� polar dip by April 20, 2022. Please send directly to Karen Gookin, 抖阴pro Student Senate Advisor kgookin@wccc.me.edu. 抖阴pro鈥檚 Student Senate will gather all media and create a short video to honor this year鈥檚 event. The video will be posted to 抖阴pro鈥檚 Facebook page and 抖阴pro website later in May. If you would like to see last year鈥檚 video, please visit the Student Senate Polar Dip Facebook page.

Please make sure you send in your name and address along with your donation or pledge. Pay or fundraise the minimum amount of $75 or more to receive a 抖阴pro 2022 Polar Dip long sleeve shirt. Once all funds and pledges have been calculated, the Student Senate will mail your 2022 Polar Dip shirt to you.
